I’ve been using the budget-friendly MXL 990 condenser mic for almost a year now and it is definitely a respectable option for the budget-conscious studio.
This is a great, simple mic for recording acoustic instruments, vocals, both male and female, or doing voice overs, and podcasts. The MXL 990 is quite sensitive and as such may require some extra room acoustic treatments/dampening to reduce unwanted background noise.
I’ve been quite happy with the results achieved from this mic and it’s been in constant use since my purchasing it. So if you’re in the market for a condenser mic that won’t break your budget then consider the MXL 990 for your studio.
